"markdown": "# HP Chromebook 11 G6 Education Edition keyboard replacement\n\nSource: https://kaas.hpcloud.hp.com/pdf-public/pdf_12445169_en-US-1.pdf (printed pages 20–22). OEM-documented procedure; not bench-tested.\n\n## Scope and notes\n\nScope note: this manual services the keyboard and the top cover as one assembly. The section is titled \"Keyboard/top cover\", the parts catalog lists it as \"Keyboard/top cover (includes keyboard cable)\", and HP notes that all such kits include the keyboard cable. The manual documents no separate keyboard-only part or procedure, and the TouchPad is a separate item with its own section (printed page 24).\n\nThe procedure is printed on pages 20–22, with the bottom cover removal on printed pages 20–21. HP places it in chapter 5, \"Removal and replacement procedures\" (printed page 19), which covers Authorized Service Provider only parts; the guide's cover states the document is intended for HP authorized service providers only, so treat this as authorized-service-provider work.\n\n## Tools\n\nFlat-bladed screwdriver, magnetic screwdriver, and Phillips P00 and P0 screwdrivers (HP \"Tools required\", printed page 14). The procedure also needs a case utility tool or similar thin plastic tool to separate the front edge of the keyboard/top cover from the bottom cover (printed page 21). Work on a grounded, static-safe surface and sort the screws by position.\n\n## Documented OEM spare options\n\n- `L14921-001` — Keyboard/top cover (includes keyboard cable), for use in the United States; printed p.20, Keyboard/top cover spare part table.\n\nHP prints one spare part number per country or region, and every such kit includes the keyboard cable; those numbers are not listed here. Confirm the exact product and configuration before ordering.\n\n## Preparation\n\n1. Read the chapter 4 preliminary requirements (printed pages 14–18) first: the tools, plastic-parts, cable-and-connector and electrostatic-discharge rules apply to every step below.\n\n2. Save work and shut the computer down through the operating system. Disconnect all external devices, unplug the power cord from the AC outlet and unplug the AC adapter, then work on a grounded, static-safe surface.\n\n3. Remove the bottom cover: the two Phillips M2.5×8.7 screws that secure it to the computer, then the six Phillips M2.5×6.6 screws (printed pages 20–21).\n\n4. Lay the computer on its right side with the front edge toward you and open it, then work the front edge of the keyboard/top cover loose from the bottom cover with a case utility tool, or a similar thin plastic tool (printed page 21).\n\n5. Release the zero insertion force (ZIF) connector for the keyboard cable and disconnect the keyboard cable from the system board, then release the ZIF connector for the TouchPad cable and disconnect the TouchPad cable from the system board (printed page 21).\n\n6. Remove the keyboard/top cover (printed page 22).\n\n## Replacement\n\n1. Fit the replacement keyboard/top cover assembly into the bottom cover (printed page 22).\n\n2. Plug the keyboard cable and the TouchPad cable back into their zero insertion force (ZIF) connectors on the system board (printed page 21).\n\n3. Close the keyboard/top cover assembly down onto the bottom cover, reversing the removal procedure (printed page 22).\n\n## Reassembly\n\nThe bottom cover is fastened with the two Phillips M2.5×8.7 screws (printed page 20) and the six Phillips M2.5×6.6 screws (printed page 21).\n\n1. Refit the bottom cover on the computer and tighten the bottom cover screws (printed page 21).\n\n> CAUTION: When servicing the computer, be sure that cables are placed in their proper locations during the reassembly process. Improper cable placement can damage the computer.\n",
