"markdown": "# HP Chromebook 11A G8 Education Edition battery replacement\n\nSource: https://kaas.hpcloud.hp.com/pdf-public/pdf_12631995_en-US-1.pdf (printed pages 24–33). OEM-documented procedure; not bench-tested.\n\n## Scope and notes\n\nThis guide covers battery replacement in the HP Chromebook 11A G8 Education Edition, from the HP Maintenance and Service Guide. HP places the procedure in chapter 5, \"Removal and replacement procedures\" (printed p.24); the cover restricts the document to HP authorized service providers, and the chapter opening limits access to an authorized service provider. The battery removal procedure is printed on pages 32–33, and its prerequisites point to \"Keyboard/top cover\" on printed p.24 and \"Speakers\" on printed p.31, so the pages cited run from 24 to 33. HP prints separate numbers for the battery bracket and tape; neither is listed below.\n\n## Tools\n\nFlat-bladed screwdriver, magnetic screwdriver, Phillips P0 and P1 screwdrivers, and a case utility tool or similar thin plastic tool (HP \"Tools required\", printed p.19); work on a grounded, static-safe surface and keep removed subassemblies and screws away from the work area.\n\n## Documented OEM spare options\n\n- `L75783-005` — Battery (2 cell, 47.36 WHr, 6.15 AHr, Li-ion; includes cable); printed p.32, Table 5-4.\n\nConfirm the configuration before ordering; a table entry is not a statement of availability.\n\n## Preparation\n\n1. Shut down the computer (if it is unclear whether it is off or in hibernation, turn it on and shut it down through the operating system), disconnect all external devices, unplug the power cord from the AC outlet and the AC adapter (printed p.32).\n\n2. Remove the keyboard/top cover (printed p.25): close the computer and turn it upside down, take out the two Phillips M2.5×8.7 and four Phillips M2.5×7.2 screws that hold it to the bottom cover, open the computer and lay it on its left side, separate the rear edge from the bottom cover with a thin plastic tool, set the computer right side up with its rear facing you, open it as far as it will open, and lift the rear edge as far as the keyboard and touchpad cables will allow.\n\n3. Disconnect the touchpad board cable at its zero insertion force (ZIF) connector, release the shielding over the keyboard cable ZIF connector, disconnect the keyboard cable at its ZIF connector, then remove the keyboard/top cover (printed pages 26–27).\n\n4. Remove the speakers (printed pages 31–32): release the shielding over the battery cable and connector, disconnect the battery cable and the speaker cable from the system board, release the speaker cable from the routing clips and channel built into the battery, remove the three Phillips M2.0×4.2 screws securing the speakers to the bottom cover, and remove the speakers.\n\n## Replacement\n\n1. Release the shielding that covers the battery cable and connector, and disconnect the battery cable from the system board (printed p.32).\n\n2. Remove the two Phillips M2.0×4.2 screws that secure the battery to the bottom cover (printed p.32).\n\n3. Remove the battery (printed p.33).\n\n## Reassembly\n\n1. Put the battery back in place, refit the shielding over the battery cable and connector, plug the battery cable into the system board again, and tighten the two Phillips M2.0×4.2 screws that hold the battery to the bottom cover (printed p.32).\n\n2. Refit the speakers: plug the speaker cable into the system board, put the cable back through the routing clips and channel built into the battery, and tighten the three Phillips M2.0×4.2 screws that hold the speakers to the bottom cover (printed p.31).\n\n3. Reconnect the touchpad board cable and the keyboard cable at their ZIF connectors, refit the shielding over the keyboard cable ZIF connector, seat the assembly in the bottom cover, and restore the two Phillips M2.5×8.7 and four Phillips M2.5×7.2 screws that hold the keyboard/top cover to the bottom cover (printed p.25).\n\n> IMPORTANT: When servicing the computer, be sure that cables are placed in their proper locations during the reassembly process. Improper cable placement can damage the computer.\n",
