"markdown": "# HP Chromebook 11A G8 Education Edition speakers replacement\n\nSource: https://kaas.hpcloud.hp.com/pdf-public/pdf_12631995_en-US-1.pdf (printed pages 24–32). OEM-documented procedure; not bench-tested.\n\n## Scope and notes\n\nThis guide covers speaker replacement in the HP Chromebook 11A G8 Education Edition, from the HP Maintenance and Service Guide. HP places the procedure in chapter 5, \"Removal and replacement procedures\" (printed p.24); the cover restricts the document to HP authorized service providers, and the chapter opening limits access to an authorized service provider.\n\nHP documents the speakers as one kit: the spare part table (Table 5-3, printed p.31) lists one entry that includes the left and right speakers, their cables and two rubber isolators, and no separate left or right speaker number is printed, so both sides are replaced together.\n\nThe speaker removal procedure is printed on pages 31–32, and its prerequisite step points to \"Keyboard/top cover\" on printed p.24, so the pages cited run from 24 to 32.\n\nThe keyboard/top cover removal itself runs over printed pages 24–27: the screw removal and the side-lying position are printed on printed page 25, the rear edge separation, the cover lift and the cable release on printed page 26, and the lift of the keyboard/top cover on printed page 27.\n\n## Tools\n\nFlat-bladed screwdriver, magnetic screwdriver, Phillips P0 and P1 screwdrivers, and a case utility tool or similar thin plastic tool (HP \"Tools required\", printed p.19); work on a grounded, static-safe surface and keep removed subassemblies and screws away from the work area.\n\n## Documented OEM spare options\n\n- `L89788-001` — Speakers (include left and right speakers, cables, and 2 rubber isolators); printed p.31, Table 5-3.\n\nThis is the only speaker entry HP documents for this model, and it is a kit rather than a single speaker.\n\n## Preparation\n\n1. Shut down the computer (if it is unclear whether it is off or in hibernation, turn it on and shut it down through the operating system), disconnect all external devices, unplug the power cord from the AC outlet and the AC adapter (printed p.31).\n\n2. Remove the keyboard/top cover: close the computer and turn it upside down, take out the two Phillips M2.5×8.7 and the four Phillips M2.5×7.2 screws that hold the keyboard/top cover to the bottom cover (printed p.25), turn the computer onto its left side and work a thin plastic tool into the rear edge to free the keyboard/top cover from the bottom cover, then set the computer right way up with the back edge toward you, open it as far as it will open and raise the rear edge until the keyboard cable and touchpad cable stop it.\n\n3. Disconnect the touchpad board cable at its zero insertion force (ZIF) connector, release the shielding over the keyboard cable ZIF connector, disconnect the keyboard cable at its ZIF connector, then remove the keyboard/top cover (printed pages 26–27).\n\n## Replacement\n\n1. Release the shielding that covers the battery cable and connector, and disconnect the battery cable from the system board (printed p.31).\n\n2. Disconnect the speaker cable from the system board (printed p.31).\n\n3. Release the speaker cable from the routing clips and channel built into the battery (printed p.31).\n\n4. Remove the three Phillips M2.0×4.2 screws that secure the speakers to the bottom cover (printed p.31).\n\n5. Remove the speakers (printed p.32).\n\n## Reassembly\n\n1. Put the replacement speakers back into the computer and refit the three Phillips M2.0×4.2 screws that hold them to the bottom cover (printed p.31).\n\n2. Put the speaker cable back through the routing clips and the channel in the battery, plug the speaker cable and the battery cable back into the system board, and put the shielding back over the battery cable and connector (printed p.31).\n\n3. Put the keyboard/top cover back on the computer, plug the touchpad board cable and the keyboard cable back into their ZIF connectors, put the shielding back over the keyboard cable ZIF connector, and refit the two Phillips M2.5×8.7 and the four Phillips M2.5×7.2 screws that hold the keyboard/top cover to the bottom cover (printed p.25).\n\n> IMPORTANT: When servicing the computer, be sure that cables are placed in their proper locations during the reassembly process. Improper cable placement can damage the computer.\n\n",
