"markdown": "# HP Chromebook 14 G7 display panel replacement\n\nSource: https://kaas.hpcloud.hp.com/pdf-public/pdf_12616543_en-US-1.pdf (printed pages 29–52). OEM-documented procedure; not bench-tested.\n\n## Scope and notes\n\nThis guide covers display panel replacement in the HP Chromebook 14 G7, from the HP Maintenance and Service Guide. HP places the procedure in chapter 5, \"Removal and replacement procedures for authorized service provider parts\" (printed p.27), whose introduction restricts its components to authorized service providers.\n\nThe manual documents the display in the section \"35.6 cm (14.0 in) display assembly\" (printed p.45). Full hinge-up displays are not available as spare parts; spare parts for displays are available only at the subcomponent level (printed p.45), so the documented replacement part is the display panel assembly.\n\n## Tools\n\nMagnetic Phillips P0 screwdriver, nonconductive nonmarking pry tool, keyboard removal tool, and forceps or tweezers (HP \"Tools required\", printed p.17).\n\n## Documented OEM spare options\n\n- `M47191-001` — 35.6 cm (14.0 in), FHD, antiglare, UWVA, touchscreen, 250 nits\n- `M47190-001` — 35.6 cm (14.0 in), FHD, antiglare, UWVA, non-touchscreen, 250 nits\n- `M47193-001` — 35.6 cm (14.0 in), HD, antiglare, SVA, touchscreen, 250 nits\n- `M47192-001` — 35.6 cm (14.0 in), HD, antiglare, LED, SVA, non-touchscreen, 250 nits\n\nAll four are printed on printed p.49; the panel must match the display fitted.\n\n## Preparation\n\n1. Shut down through the operating system, disconnect external devices and the AC power cord, and work on a grounded, static-safe surface.\n\n2. Prepare the computer for disassembly (printed p.29) and remove the top cover/keyboard (printed pp.29–32): remove the two Phillips PM2.5×8.6 and six Phillips PM2.5×7.2 screws, use the keyboard removal tool into the rear screw holes until the rear edge disengages, release the ZIF connectors for the touchpad, keyboard and backlight cables, and remove the top cover/keyboard.\n\n3. Take the battery cable off the system board (printed p.35), then take out the four Phillips M2.0 × 4.2 screws and the battery shield.\n\n4. Remove the speakers (see \"Speakers\", printed p.37) and the sensor board (see \"Sensor board\", printed pp.40–41), following each procedure.\n\n## Replacement\n\n1. Release the inside edges of the display bezel from the display assembly (printed p.45); remove the bezel and hinge cover (printed p.46).\n\n2. Remove the Phillips M2.0 × 2.3 broad head screw and WLAN module bracket; disconnect the wireless antenna cables from the WLAN module (printed p.46).\n\n3. Unplug the webcam/microphone module cable at the system board, take that cable and the WLAN AUX antenna cable out of the retention clips built into the computer, then unplug the display panel cable at the system board and take it and the WLAN MAIN antenna cable out of the clips as well (printed p.47).\n\n4. Remove the two Phillips M2.0 × 2.8 screws at the top edge of the display panel assembly and the six Phillips M2.5 × 3.0 and two Phillips M2.5 × 3.9 screws at the hinges (printed p.48).\n\n5. Free the webcam/microphone module cable, the wireless antenna cables and the display panel cable out of the hinge areas (printed p.48). Then raise the computer so the hinges and hinge brackets come away from the display assembly, and slide the computer forward to take it out, with the display hinge brackets fully clear of the display assembly.\n\n6. Free the display panel cable from the retention clips and the channel built into the display back cover (printed p.49).\n\n7. Find the pull-to-release adhesive tabs at the two bottom corners of the display back cover, grasp them with tweezers or forceps and roll them up for a firm hold, pull them away from the cover as far as they will go, and once they have let go, take off the display panel assembly (printed p.49).\n\n8. Turn the display panel assembly over so the bottom edge faces you, detach the grounding tape and the adhesive support strip that hold the display panel cable against the display panel assembly, then unplug the display panel cable from the panel assembly (printed p.49).\n\n## Reassembly\n\n1. Fit the replacement display panel assembly into the display back cover, put the display panel cable back through the retention clips and the channel built into the display back cover, and use the grounding tape and the adhesive support strip to secure the cable to the panel assembly again (printed p.49).\n\n2. Fit the hinge cover and display bezel back, put the hinges and hinge brackets back, route the webcam/microphone module cable, the wireless antenna cables and the display panel cable into the hinge areas again, and refit the two Phillips M2.0 × 2.8, six Phillips M2.5 × 3.0 and two Phillips M2.5 × 3.9 screws (printed p.48).\n\n3. Fit the sensor board and the speakers back, put the top cover/keyboard back, and plug the battery cable into the system board again (printed p.35).\n\n> IMPORTANT: When servicing the computer, be sure that cables are placed in their proper locations during the reassembly process. Improper cable placement can damage the computer.\n",
