"markdown": "# HP Chromebook 14 G7 WLAN module replacement\n\nSource: https://kaas.hpcloud.hp.com/pdf-public/pdf_12616543_en-US-1.pdf (printed pages 29–36). OEM-documented procedure; not bench-tested.\n\n## Scope and notes\n\nThis guide covers WLAN module replacement in the HP Chromebook 14 G7, from the HP Maintenance and Service Guide. HP documents the module under the heading \"WLAN module\" (printed page 35).\n\nHP places the procedure in chapter 5, \"Removal and replacement procedures for authorized service provider parts\" (printed page 27), which states that the components it describes should be accessed only by an authorized service provider; its introduction (printed page 28) warns that servicing these parts means removing, replacing, or loosening as many as 48 screws.\n\nThe WLAN module removal procedure is printed on pages 35-37: the heading, the parts table and the prerequisite list sit on printed page 35, the removal steps themselves are printed on printed page 36, and the reversal instruction is printed on printed page 37. The prerequisite steps point to \"Preparation for disassembly\" on printed page 29, the top cover/keyboard procedure on printed page 29, and the battery procedure on printed page 34.\n\nHP prints a restriction with this section: replace the wireless module only with a module authorized for use in the computer by the governmental agency that regulates wireless devices in the country or region. If a replacement module produces a warning message, HP's instruction is to remove it and contact technical support.\n\n## Tools\n\nMagnetic Phillips P0 screwdriver, nonconductive nonmarking pry tool, keyboard removal tool, and forceps or tweezers (HP \"Tools required\", printed page 17). Sort the screws by their original position.\n\n## Documented OEM spare options\n\n- `L92724-005` — Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201 ax 2×2 + Bluetooth 5.0 MU-MIMO M.22230 non-vPro 160MHz MIPI+BRI WW WLAN module with 2 antennas; printed p.35, Table 5-4.\n\nThis is the WLAN module entry HP documents for this model. The manual prints a separate spare part number for the WLAN module bracket, which is not part of the module kit.\n\n## Preparation\n\n1. Prepare the computer for disassembly (printed page 29).\n\n2. Remove the top cover/keyboard (printed page 30): flip the computer over so the front edge faces you, take out the two Phillips PM2.5×8.6 screws and the six Phillips PM2.5×7.2 screws that hold the top cover/keyboard to the base enclosure, lay the opened computer on the display back cover, then press a keyboard removal tool into the rear screw holes until the rear edge lets go of the base enclosure.\n\n3. Disconnect the battery cable from the system board (printed page 35), by the connector rather than by the wires.\n\n## Replacement\n\n1. Remove the Phillips M2.0 × 2.3 broad head screw that secures the WLAN module bracket (printed page 36).\n\n2. Remove the WLAN module bracket (printed page 36).\n\n3. Carefully disconnect the wireless antenna cables from the WLAN module (printed page 36). Some models carry one WLAN antenna and others carry two; where there are two, the #1 white cable goes to the #1 Main terminal and the #2 black cable to the #1 Aux terminal.\n\n4. Remove the Phillips M2.0 × 2.9 screw, and then remove the WLAN module (printed page 36).\n\n5. Where a WLAN antenna is left off the module terminals, fit a protective sleeve over the antenna connector (printed page 36).\n\n## Reassembly\n\n1. Reverse the removal steps (printed page 37) to fit the replacement WLAN module, then reconnect the antenna cables to the Main and Aux terminals.\n\n2. Refit the WLAN module bracket and put back the Phillips M2.0 × 2.3 broad head screw that holds it, then put back the Phillips M2.0 × 2.9 screw, and reconnect the battery cable to the system board (printed page 36).\n\n3. Plug the touchpad, keyboard and backlight cables back into their ZIF connectors, lower the top cover/keyboard into the base enclosure, and refit the screws that hold the top cover/keyboard to the base enclosure (printed page 31).\n\n> IMPORTANT: When servicing the computer, be sure that cables are placed in their proper locations during the reassembly process. Improper cable placement can damage the computer.\n\n",
