"markdown": "# HP Chromebook x360 11 G3 Education Edition battery replacement\n\nSource: https://kaas.hpcloud.hp.com/pdf-public/pdf_12631983_en-US-1.pdf (printed pages 24–36). OEM-documented procedure; not bench-tested.\n\n## Scope and notes\n\nThis guide covers battery replacement in the HP Chromebook x360 11 G3 Education Edition, using the HP Maintenance and Service Guide. HP places the procedure in chapter 5, \"Removal and replacement procedures\" (printed page 24), and the cover states that the document is intended for HP authorized service providers only.\n\nThe battery removal procedure is printed on pages 35–36. Its prerequisite steps point to \"Keyboard/top cover\" on printed page 24 and \"Speakers\" on printed page 34, so the pages cited in this guide run from 24 to 36.\n\nThe keyboard/top cover removal runs over printed pages 26–28: the screw groups are printed on printed page 26, the rear edge separation, the cover lift and the cable release on printed page 27, and the lift of the keyboard/top cover on printed page 28.\n\n## Tools\n\nFlat-bladed screwdriver, magnetic screwdriver, and Phillips P0 and P1 screwdrivers (HP \"Tools required\", printed page 19). Work on a grounded, static-safe surface.\n\n## Documented OEM spare options\n\n- `L75783-005` — Battery (2-cell, 47-WHr, 6.15-AHr, Li-ion; includes cable); printed p.35, Table 5-5.\n\nHP also lists a battery Mylar in the same table; it is not among the options above.\n\n## Preparation\n\n1. Shut down the computer through the operating system (printed page 35); if it is unclear whether it is off or in hibernation, turn it on and shut it down again. Disconnect all external devices, unplug the power cord from the AC outlet, then unplug the AC adapter from the computer.\n\n2. Remove the keyboard/top cover: close the computer and lay it upside down with the front edge toward you, then remove or loosen the screws that hold it to the bottom cover — two Phillips M2.0×5.7 screws, two Phillips M2.0×5.7 captive screws and two Phillips M2.5×8.7 screws (printed p.26). Open the computer and turn it onto its right side with the back edge facing you, work a thin plastic tool into the rear edge to free the keyboard/top cover from the bottom cover, set the computer the right way up with its rear edge facing you, open it as far as it will open and raise the rear edge until the keyboard cable and touchpad cable stop it.\n\n3. Disconnect the touchpad board cable at its zero insertion force (ZIF) connector on the system board. Release the shielding over the keyboard cable ZIF connector, release that ZIF connector and disconnect the keyboard cable, then release the ZIF connector for the keyboard camera cable and disconnect it. Take off the keyboard/top cover.\n\n4. Remove the speakers (printed pages 34–35): release the shielding over the battery cable and connector and disconnect the battery cable from the system board; disconnect the speaker cable and release it from the routing clips and channel built into the battery; remove the four Phillips M2.0×4.2 screws securing the speakers to the bottom cover, then take off the speakers.\n\n## Replacement\n\n1. With the keyboard/top cover and speakers off, release the shielding that covers the battery cable and connector (printed page 35).\n\n2. Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.\n\n3. Remove the two Phillips M2.0×4.2 screws that secure the battery to the bottom cover.\n\n4. Remove the battery.\n\n## Reassembly\n\n1. Put the replacement battery back into the computer and refit the two Phillips M2.0×4.2 screws that hold it to the bottom cover (printed p.35).\n\n2. Plug the battery cable back into the system board (printed p.35).\n\n3. Put the speakers back in the computer, plug the speaker cable into the system board again, feed the speaker cable through the routing clips and the channel in the battery, and refit the four Phillips M2.0×4.2 screws that hold the speakers to the bottom cover (printed p.34).\n\n4. Put the keyboard/top cover back on the computer, plug the touchpad board cable, the keyboard cable and the keyboard camera cable back into their ZIF connectors, and refit the two Phillips M2.0×5.7 screws, the two Phillips M2.0×5.7 captive screws and the two Phillips M2.5×8.7 screws (printed p.26).\n\n> IMPORTANT: When servicing the computer, be sure that cables are placed in their proper locations during the reassembly process. Improper cable placement can damage the computer.\n\n",
