"markdown": "# HP Chromebook x360 11 G3 Education Edition WLAN module replacement\n\nSource: https://kaas.hpcloud.hp.com/pdf-public/pdf_12631983_en-US-1.pdf (printed pages 24–38). OEM-documented procedure; not bench-tested.\n\n## Scope and notes\n\nThis guide covers WLAN module replacement in the HP Chromebook x360 11 G3 Education Edition, using the HP Maintenance and Service Guide. The procedure is in chapter 5, \"Removal and replacement procedures\" (printed page 24), and the cover states that the document is intended for HP authorized service providers only.\n\nThe removal procedure is on printed pages 37–38. Its prerequisite steps point to \"Keyboard/top cover\" on printed page 24 and \"Battery\" on printed page 35, so the pages cited here run from 24 to 38.\n\nThe keyboard/top cover removal that the WLAN procedure asks for starts on printed page 26, where the six screws come out, continues on printed page 27, where the thin plastic tool frees the rear edge and the three cables are unplugged, and ends on printed page 28, where the cover is lifted out of the bottom cover.\n\nHP warns that the wireless module should be replaced only with a module authorized for use in the computer by the governmental agency that regulates wireless devices in the country or region (printed page 37).\n\n## Tools\n\nFlat-bladed screwdriver, magnetic screwdriver, and Phillips P0 and P1 screwdrivers (HP \"Tools required\", printed page 19).\n\n## Documented OEM spare options\n\n- `L22634-005` — Intel 9560 ac 2×2 + Bluetooth 5.0 MU-MIMO M.2 2230 non-vPro WLAN module; printed p.37, Table 5-6.\n\nThe bracket that holds the module is a separate item, not among the options above.\n\n## Preparation\n1. Shut down the computer through the operating system (printed page 37); if its state is unclear, turn it on and shut it down again. Disconnect all external devices, unplug the power cord from the AC outlet, then unplug the AC adapter.\n2. Remove the keyboard/top cover (printed pages 26 to 28): close the computer, turn it over with the front edge toward you, and remove or loosen the screws securing it to the bottom cover — two Phillips M2.0×5.7 screws, two Phillips M2.0×5.7 captive screws and two Phillips M2.5×8.7 screws. Open the computer, lay it on its right side with the back edge toward you, and separate the rear edge from the bottom cover with a thin plastic tool. Position it right side up, open it as far as it will open, and lift the rear edge until the keyboard and touchpad cables pull tight. Disconnect the touchpad board cable at its zero insertion force (ZIF) connector on the system board, release the shielding over the keyboard cable ZIF connector, release that ZIF connector and disconnect the keyboard cable, then disconnect the keyboard camera cable, and take off the keyboard/top cover.\n3. Release the shielding over the battery cable and connector, then unplug the battery cable from the system board (printed page 35).\n\n## Replacement\n\n1. Take out the Phillips M2.0×2.9 screw that holds the WLAN module to the system board; the module tips up (printed page 37).\n2. Remove the WLAN bracket; HP prints it as a separate item included in a bracket kit, not among the options above.\n3. Disconnect the WLAN antenna cables at the terminals on the WLAN module: the #1/white cable to the #1/Main terminal, the #2/black cable to the #2/Aux terminal.\n4. Release the shielding that secures the WLAN module to the slot (printed page 37).\n5. Take the WLAN module out of the slot at an angle; HP notes that WLAN modules are notched to prevent incorrect installation (printed page 38).\n\n## Reassembly\n\n1. Slide the replacement WLAN module back into the slot, observing the notch, and refit the shielding (printed page 38).\n2. Plug the WLAN antenna cables back onto the module terminals: the #1/white cable to the #1/Main terminal, the #2/black cable to the #2/Aux terminal (printed page 37).\n3. Refit the WLAN bracket and put the Phillips M2.0×2.9 screw back (printed page 37).\n4. Plug the battery cable back into the system board and put the shielding back over the cable and connector (printed page 35).\n5. Put the keyboard/top cover back onto the bottom cover, following the removal steps in reverse (printed page 37).\n\n> IMPORTANT: When servicing the computer, be sure that cables are placed in their proper locations during the reassembly process. Improper cable placement can damage the computer.\n\nThat caution is printed on printed page 19, in the chapter 4 service considerations on cables and connectors.\n",
