"markdown": "# HP EliteBook 830 G5 battery replacement\n\nSource: https://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06189588.pdf (printed pages 33–41). OEM-documented procedure; not bench-tested.\n\n## Scope and notes\n\nHP places this battery procedure in the Customer Self-Repair chapter; regional/program eligibility still applies.\n\nDo not puncture or deform the battery. Component handling guidance here supplements the cited procedure; no physical repair was performed.\n\n## Tools\n\nPhillips driver suitable for bottom-cover screws, case-removal tool, grounded static-safe work surface and screw organizer. Battery replacement additionally needs a Torx T8 driver.\n\n## Documented OEM spare options\n\n- `933321-855` — 3-cell, 50 Whr, 4.33 Ah battery; printed p.40.\n\nConfirm exact product/configuration before ordering.\n\n## Preparation\n\n1. Check the service label identifies HP EliteBook 830 G5. Confirm the replacement against the exact product configuration before purchase. These instructions do not establish compatibility with a different generation or every aftermarket component.\n\n2. Save work and shut down through the operating system. Disconnect external devices. Unplug the AC power cord from the outlet, then disconnect the adapter from the laptop. Work on a grounded, static-safe surface and keep fasteners organized. Consult the manual preliminary requirements and grounding sections before opening.\n\n3. Place the closed laptop upside down on a flat surface. Loosen the 5 captive screws and 2 inset captive screws shown on printed page 39 (PDF page 49); leave captive screws with the cover.\n\n4. Starting under the display, use a case-removal tool to release and lift the bottom cover, following the page 39 diagram.\n\n5. Disconnect the battery cable from the system board using the connector location on printed page 40 (PDF page 50). Keep force on the connector rather than the wires. Battery removal is not a prerequisite for RAM/SSD in these OEM procedures; cable disconnection is.\n\n## Replacement\n\n1. With AC removed, the bottom cover off and the battery cable disconnected, remove the 5 Torx T8 2.5×4.0 battery screws (printed p. 40).\n\n2. Rotate the top of the battery upward and lift the battery out, following printed page 41.\n\n3. Engage the replacement battery bottom tabs with the clips in the computer, then rotate the battery into position (printed p. 41).\n\n4. Reinstall the 5 original battery screws in their original positions, then reconnect the battery cable. Refit the bottom cover by reversing its removal and secure all 7 captive screws before reconnecting AC.\n\n## After assembly\n\nSuggested check, not performed: after assembly and AC reconnection, confirm startup, battery detection and charging state.\n"
