"markdown": "# HP ProBook 440 G6 battery replacement\n\nSource: https://kaas.hpcloud.hp.com/pdf-public/pdf_13033544_en-US-1.pdf (printed pages 31–38). OEM-documented procedure; not bench-tested.\n\nThis model uses Battery Safe mode and a battery-retaining tab. Do not substitute the cable-and-screw procedure from the EliteBook guides.\n\n## Tools and preparation\n\nPhillips driver appropriate to the fasteners, nonmarking/nonconductive opening tool, static-safe work surface, and screw organizer. Advanced keyboard work requires all tools specified in the complete OEM manual.\n\nConfirm the exact model is HP ProBook 440 G6. Save work, shut down through the operating system and disconnect external devices. Follow HP Battery Safe mode before opening: with the computer off and AC connected, press Windows + Backspace + Power; turn the computer on to initiate Battery Safe mode; after it powers off, disconnect AC (printed p. 36). In that mode it will not power on without AC. Use a grounded static-safe surface. Remove the two Phillips M2.0×5.0 cover screws and loosen the five captive Phillips screws. Starting under the display, use a nonconductive, nonmarking tool to release the cover; lift its rear and remove it (printed p. 37).\n\n## OEM spare options\n\nVerify exact configuration before ordering. Table options do not establish blanket aftermarket upgrade compatibility.\n\n- `L32656-002` — 3-cell, 45 Whr, 3.92 Ah battery; printed p. 38.\n\n## Procedure\n\n1. Remove the two Phillips M2.0×4.0 battery screws.\n\n2. Lift the top of the battery, then use a tool to push back the retaining tab at its bottom-left corner, following the diagram on printed page 38. Do not apply force to the battery enclosure.\n\n3. Lift out the battery.\n\n4. Install the replacement by reversing the illustrated removal, engaging its retaining tab and reinstalling the two battery screws.\n\n5. Refit the bottom cover, secure the five captive Phillips screws and reinstall the two M2.0×5.0 screws. Restore AC only after assembly.\n\n## After assembly\n\nSuggested check, not performed: verify the replaced component is detected and functions. For an SSD, restore/migrate the OS and data using a separately prepared recovery plan; hardware replacement does not transfer data. After full reassembly, reconnect AC and press Power to leave Battery Safe mode (HP printed p. 36).\n"
