Scope and notes
This guide covers battery replacement in the HP Chromebook 14 G5, from the HP Maintenance and Service Guide. The procedure sits in chapter 5, "Removal and replacement procedures" (printed page 20), which covers Authorized Service Provider only parts, cautions that they should only be accessed by an authorized service provider, and states that this computer has no user-replaceable parts. The cover of the guide states that it is intended for HP authorized service providers only.
The battery removal procedure is printed on pages 27–28, and its prerequisite step 4 points to "Keyboard/top cover" on printed page 21, so the pages cited here run from 21 to 28.
The pack is a 2-cell, 47-WHr, 6.15-AHr Li-ion battery that includes its cable, freed by four screws; the manual prints no separate battery cover or shield number.
Tools
Flat-bladed screwdriver, magnetic screwdriver, and Phillips P00 and P0 screw drivers (HP "Tools required", printed page 15). Work on a grounded, static-safe surface (printed pages 17–19) and keep each subassembly and its screws away from the work area (printed page 15).
